Valley Taliban and GOP Hold a Gay Bashing Gala in Harrisonburg Last Night

In case you missed it, the Valley Family Forum, held a "gay sex gala" in Harrisonburg last night at JMU. According to the DNR, some 200 "agents of intolerance" attended and had drinks, ate roast beef, and talked about gay sex for the evening.

Headlining the "gay sex gala" was no other than future Republican gubernatorial hopefulls Taliban Bob McDonnell and Bill "Don't I remind you of Jim Gilmore?" Bolling. According to Bolling, banning same sex marriage is of the utmost importance to insure the future health, safety, and wellfare of the residents of the Commonwealth.

The reason? Well, according to Bolling you never know when some activist lefty in a black robe just might ram gay marriage down our throats, now never mind that same sex couples can't marry in the Commonwealth, or that there seem to be very few - if any - "activist" judges in the Commonwealth. Still we can never be too careful...

Call it what it is - this whole marriage amendment "issue" is nothing more than a ridiculous "cultural wedge" issue solely intended to deflect attention away from more pressing (and important) issues. Period. I find it sad that local and state officials would even attend this crap, but I'm hardly surprised.

Fortunatly, the general public is starting to get tired of this "one trick poney", and interest and opposition to gay marriage is declining. So I guess you could say the more these folks "buck", the more people start to see their actions for what it really is: cheap poltical posturing.

Personally I never really thought about gay marriage before the 2004 elections, but the more folks like the Valley Family Forum hold events similar to the one they had last night in Harrisonburg, the more I'm swayed to support the idea of gay marriage, or some other reasonable alternative. So keep up the good work!

The last comment is an absolutely salacious and egregious attempt to stain the good reputations of good god fearing men. Good family value conservative would never participate in such hedonistic and sinful behavior. How dare you!

    Sincerely,

Ed Schrock, Former U.S. Congressman from Virginia

If the issue is supposed to be about "protecting the sanctity of the institution of marraige" then perhaps we ought to see how many of these Valley Taliban have ever cheated on their spouse, or had a divorce. Maybe they ought to work on measures to protect those already married. But they do not because it is a thinly veiled attemt to discriminate and make political gains out of a wedge issue.
Nothing like bringing people together out of fear and intolerance.
Coming soon a good ol' fashioned book burning!

I'm sure the Valley Family Forum are woking equally as hard to ensure that legislation is passed that provides for increasing the minimum wage, and better access to affordable heath insurance. What do you think they spend all of their time obessessing about hot botton cultural issues?

actually, I was there and MAtt wasn't.

It was not a hate fest. There is very little truth in this post.

Much of the evening was about honoring families and praising God.

Let us lovingly condemn and persecute in the name of our savior! It sure worked during the inquisition! I have every confidence that Myron has the gentle and compassionate nature to administer the white hot coals to the heretics and non believers to save them from themselves. Do you speak much in tongues Reverend Rhodes?

Delegate Lohr has been on his knees since he got to Richmond. (in prayer of course) I'm sure he has gained a whole new understanding of the term: "Take one for the team!"

sure Myron "honoring families and praising god", really? Sounds like something fit for Sunday morning at the Church of your choosing, but the VFF chooses to "honor families and praise god" by putting on a royal dog and poney show at JMU, and bring in bolling and taliban bob, nice try...

this has everything to do with politics, and the politics of intolerance at that...folks who partake in the garbage should be ashamed...

    You Said:

"He supports gay rights! Gay marriage! And who knows what other kind of perversion."

    - I support the constitution of the USA..period. Show me in the contitution where Christians (or any other religion) is the sanctioned state religion? It seems to me, folks like yourself where telling us back in the 1960s that intergration was immoral and henious..where are you now?

"Freedom is not the be all and end all. America was built on Christian Values by Christian people"

    - As far as the first comment, Ok..next..yes, America was found by Christians, but they realized the tyranny of religious people too. For instance, I believe the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, were established by people escaping religous intolerance from Massachuetts (sp!) There is no mention of the god in the US Constitution either..but, suggesting that our founder fathers were completely secular is not correct either (look at the refrences to God in the Declaration of INdependce for example) but they did understand that a secular government was the only type of government that wold be sustainable...

"Stop the gay propaganda and set people's minds free. Thought control hasn't worked in China. It won't work here"

Control? You seem to be the one who is telling people how to live thier lives? Based on your personal religious beliefs, and with no regard to the Constitution..you seem more agreeable to theocratric rule, and not a Republic...

In summary your comments seem to be insight into the Christian Nationalist Movement...I don't think this is what our founding fathres had in mind...therefore, you probably do have more in common with the mullahs of Iran, clerics of Saudia Arabia, and the TAliban than you do Jeffeson, Madison, et. al...

Never the less, thank you for you comments Dean!
