when you consider that Bush, Cheney, et. al are former/present "oil men", and presently heavily vested in the industry, I guess they should have a rally in downtown Houston (Bush and Cheney that is) and hang a big celebratory banner with the words "Mission Accomplished" written accross it!

The real problem with energy is the old supply and demand concept. Even small increases in the economic growth of China and/or India creates huge pressures on the world-wide demand for energy. While it is good to see capitalism taking root in these far away places, it will change the whole way we deal with the energy issue. Without energy, there is no economic activity. Technology continues to make the world smaller. The times, they are a changing.

In the new global energy economic politics, the Russians are sitting pretty. They got lots of oil. Old Europe will be going to the Bear with hat in hand wanting some of that juice. If we think our friends in Old Europe are fickle now, wait and see what happens once they get a taste of that Russian oil.
